Cycling is on the up. Why?

There are always indicators in life that that tell you that a particular industry is doing well and the fact that WD40 has entered the cycling market with its Anti friction dry ptfe and Fast acing degreasers is a shore case of telling you cycling is on the up.

I wonder why cycling is doing so well?

In UK and London were I am it is booming with more and more bike shops opening on every street corner.

It reminds me of the mobile phone boom when there was a mobile phone shop on every street corner then big business got in Involved and then disappeared the small independent shops.

Cycling is differently on the up you could say I am a product of that I am out at least three times a week racing against me self trying to beat the time I did last time I was out on my bike, or in the winter I am on the turbo trainer even this blog is a result of the cycling boom.

You just need to look and the number of cyclist in Richmond Park on any given Saturday or Sunday morning or the huge numbers using TFL super highways every weekday rush hour to see how popular cycling has become.

Addison Lee Offices Die-in “pictures”

It would like to start this as it was a warm spring evening, but in fact it was a cold and wet spring evening as a couple of hundred cyclists turned out on the door step of Addison Lees office in central London. It was a pleasant affair with cyclist lying on the cold wet tarmac to demonstrate a point of cyclist been knocked down not necessary by Addison Lee drivers, shortly after that the word went around that John Griffin was at the office and will come out to have a few words with us.

Needless to say he did not have much to say I what he said could not be heard by every one.

He was saying he cares for cyclist safety, that’s why he would like to see compulsory training scheme for cyclist blah blah, he went on to offer the cyclist present leaflets about the caring Addison Lee drivers cyclist awareness “Please”

I wont go on but I hope you enjoy the pictures

Don’t forget to sign the petition below.

Is Addison Lee good for London cyclist?

At this stage I have to say RIP to all those who have lost there lives cycling on the UK roads at the hands of motorist.

The Addison Lee debate seems to be the topic of the moment, its either the boss of Addison Lee  John Griffin is a genius or and absolute idiot.

Griffin’s original article had stirred up heated debate on the internet as it suggested that cyclists in London willingingly took their lives into their own hands by riding on roads. He said that cyclists should be properly trained and pay for using roads, summing up the article with “It is time for us to say to cyclists ‘You want to join our gang, get trained and pay up’.

I have come to the conclusion that he is a genius he is getting loads of free advertising when you think cab firm the 1st name that you will think of now will be Addison Lee.

He has been in the printed press on the radio, Twitter, Facebook and now even I find my self-writing about John Griffin and Addison Lee.

He is also good for cyclist and has highlighted the fact that cyclist need to stick together as we seem to be gaining more power in transport discussions in the city, we even have the London mayoral candidates fighting over or vote it is important that cycling stays free and free from the involvement of big business.

It does not matter what John Griffin says about cyclist he is only a cab firm who wants to use the bus lanes and has been clever in the way he has diverted the attention of that topic and on to cycling and cyclist.

What worry’s me if he get his way it would mean all cab firms and independent cab drivers will want to be able to use the bus lanes putting more cyclist in danger, a bus lane is like a secondary bike lane where as a cyclist.

London Cyclist’s Manifesto Whats in yours?

Here’s a chance for those who cycle on the London roads to list your thoughts and view the candidate transport manifestos.

It seems Jenny Jones from the Green party is the most impressive candidate for cycling policies.

Londoners are been encouraged to join the Big ride on the 28th April to tell Johnson and Livingstone that they must create safe and inviting space for cyclist pretty much the Holland model

View the mayoral candidate’s transport manifestos here I have listed Jenny Jones manifestos as it is the best for cyclist in London but you can few the other candidates below.

Bike shop’s and poor customer service!

I wonder how many cyclist have felt the same way as I do about entering a bike shop the feeling that they do not want you there or the view you as an other idiot that has not got a clue, well at least the impression that I get when walk into some of the bike shops.

I remember when I was looking for my second road bike I went to Evans cycles as they let you have a quick ride for a one pound deposit taken of your credit card, I was greeted by a young girl that was no more than 4 years old or at least she had about that amount of knowledge about bikes, this was totally of putting she had to keep on asking a senor sales assistant if the bikes that I was interested in were in stock you would have thought she would have known or at least be able to use the shops computer to find out.

The 2nd bike shop I went to never had no time and thought I had only come there to waste there time at least that’s the impression I got.

The third shop was more than helpful, I stood there talking to a friendly assistant that knew quite a lot about bikes they had in stock and asked me what I was going to use the bike for and went about explaining about the advantage of a stiff of bottom brackets, and what groupset would be best at the budget I had in mind etc.

Guess from whom I brought my bike from “Exactly” it called customer service.
